Benefits of Installing Skylights and Rooflights
Your new skylight or rooflight will produce a host of benefits that you can start enjoying on Day 1:
1 - Lower air conditioning bills: Rooflights that open can create airflow the likes of which you never thought possible. That robust airflow will reduce the need to run the air conditioner so much in the summertime.
2 - Lower heating bills: With warm natural light streaming in from above during the winter months you won't need to run the furnace so hard, meaning you'll enjoy lower heating bills.
3 - Enhanced kerb appeal: Kerb appeal (how your home is viewed by passersby) can affect the value of your home by as much as 10%. Skylights greatly enhance your home's curb appeal.
Skylights, Rooflights & Planning Permission
Our customers often ask us if they will need planning permission to install skylights or rooflights. The answer is it will depend on several things. Lots of homeowners will not need planning permission, but if the new roof window will rise more than 15 cm above the established roofline, or protrude above what is currently the highest point on the roof, then you may need planning permission. You will almost certainly need planning permission if your home is a Listed Building or if it is located in a Conservation Area.
Installing Your Skylights or Rooflights
We do not offer installation services for the skylights and rooflights we sell. However, every roof window comes with comprehensive installation instructions, though we would not recommend you install the skylight yourself unless you have prior experience doing so. If you like we can put you in touch with a contractor in your area who is experienced in the installation of skylights and rooflights.
