Take external builders upstand measurement
Acceptable tolerance:
Fixed / unvented domes = dome size +20/-20mm
Opening / vented domes = dome size +40/-20mm
As an example, if fitting on a builder’s upstand, the width should be 75mm and height of the upstand should be 150mm high. If you purchase a 900mm by 900mm from the drop-down menu on our website your external timber size as shown in red above (Measure here) should be 900mm by 900mm.

These rooflights have been designed to be both easy to install and easy to use. Because they are manually operated, there is no need for any electrical installation work: the domes can be opened and closed with the supplied winding rods. The concealed hinges operate smoothly, ensuring that any able-bodied adult can open the domes quickly and with a minimum of effort.
Keep Your Property Comfortable in All Seasons
Once installed, manual hinged dome rooflights make it easier to control the indoor climate in any type of space with a flat roof. If the atmosphere should become stuffy and unpleasant, simply open the domes and you will increase the ventilation in the space significantly. Each dome rises approximately 30 cm when opened fully, ensuring an ample supply of fresh air whenever it is needed. When the weather turns cold, you will be pleased that you opted for a triple-layer polycarbonate rooflight, with a centre-pane U-value of 1.8 W/m²K. This rating is well within the guidelines laid out in Part L of the Building Regulations in the UK, which cover the requirements for energy-efficient spaces in commercial and residential properties.
Safe and Durable Manual Hinged Dome Rooflights
The outer dome of the rooflights is fabricated from 3 mm-thick, impact-resistant polycarbonate sheeting with a UV coating on both sides. This helps to reduce the possibility of accidental damage and minimises the amount of ultraviolet light that passes through. The fixings that are used to attach the rooflights to the roof are concealed inside tough security caps, providing outstanding protection against vandalism and theft. Furthermore, the risk of condensation is mitigated through the separation of the glazing skins across the entire span of the dome.
What size do I order?
The dome rooflight size to order is completely dependent on whether this is being fitted onto a builder’s upstand or whether a upstand was being purchased with the rooflight. If an upstand is being purchased with the rooflight then the size to order is the structural opening size. If this rooflight is being fitted onto a builder’s upstand made on site, then the size to order is your external kerb to kerb measurement size.
How do I open the rooflight?
This rooflight will allow you select the extra option of having a manual pole to open the unit with. This manual pole will engage with the worm gear, and you would open and close the skylight using this method.
What is the ventilation option for?
The ventilation option is usually selected for areas where in there is little or no air ventilation within the room. The ventilation is also selected in areas of higher humidity.
Select your desired options and place your order now. And don’t forget, we are always here to help if you require any more information or personal assistance with your purchase.
