Choosing the Right 800mm Skylights for Your Property

If you are not sure what style is best suited to your property or what type of glazing you should specify when placing your order, consider the following factors carefully:

1. Privacy Concerns – If your home or business is overlooked by other properties in the area, you may wish to consider specifying some type of privacy glass when ordering your new skylights. Various types of obscure glass are available on request.

2. Architecture and Interior Décor – The architectural style and interior décor of your property will both play a big part in helping you to determine which skylight models are right for your needs and which are best avoided. For example: skylights that look perfect in contemporary homes may not be such a good choice for period properties, and vice versa.

3. Maintenance – In general, the more ornate the design of a skylight, the more effort will be required to keep it in excellent condition. Flat skylights with simple frames are the easiest to clean and maintain, whilst ornate roof lanterns are at the other end of the scale. However, even the most decorative of roof lanterns will not be particularly hard to maintain so this is more a matter of personal preference than practicality.

4. Summer and Winter Temperatures – If you’re installing skylights in a south facing room, you may wish to specify tinted glazing to ensure indoor temperatures don’t get too high during the summer months. On the other hand, if you’re trying to reduce your winter heating bills, clear glazing could be a better choice.
