Danny Bhuva came to glazing from an unusual direction. Before he sold a single pane of glass, he spent his career in major project delivery: naval and aircraft platforms across defence and aviation, then a principal planning role on the £6.5 billion Thameslink Programme. Those are environments where a missed detail is expensive and a specification either stands up to scrutiny or it does not. He brought that habit of mind with him when he founded Rooflights & Roof Lanterns in 2016.

The company started broad, supplying glass and glazing to homeowners and commercial clients, and it did not stay that way for long. Danny kept noticing the same pattern on job after job. The rooflight is often the single element that changes how a room feels, and it is routinely specified last, understood least and bought on price alone. So he narrowed the business down to that one discipline and built the technical depth to justify the focus.

Ten years on, RLRL is one of the UK's largest rooflight distributors, manufacturing and warehousing at Staples Corner in north London and delivering nationwide. Danny still sets the product standards himself and negotiates the manufacturer partnerships directly, which is how the range came to include Korniche, Mardome, Coxdome, Brett Martin, Wendland and Fakro alongside RLRL's own products. Customers get a real choice rather than one house range presented as the only sensible answer.

His knowledge is the practical sort. He is comfortable talking about U-values and glass build-ups, and equally comfortable talking about upstand heights, structural openings, and how a 90kg glass unit is actually going to reach a second-floor roof on a terraced street.
