The skylights simply fit directly on top of the existing builders upstand/kerb.  The skylight is supplied with laminated inner pane glass for extra safety.

This Glass rooflight is electrically or manually operated. For the electric option, this means it is connected to mains power, and is then operated via a wall switch. Other options are mains powered with remote or rain sensor.

This makes the closing and opening of the rooflight easy and quick. Operated by single or tandem chain actuators (depending on size) - smaller sizes feature concealed actuators, larger sizes use heavier duty exposed actuators. Rooflight is controlled with a wall switch or optional remote control. A rain sensor can be specified with remote control to automatically close the rooflight in the rain. Please be aware electric rooflights should not be fitted in high humidity areas, for example above a shower.

The manual option rooflight is operated by worm gear, using a pole (sold separately).

The roof lights sleek and contemporary design with a slimline powder coated frame and flush fitting glass panel maximise the light entering the room. The minimalistic framework ensures the framework is barely visible once installed as per our fitting instructions.

Please ensure sizes are checked before making payment as all orders are made to order and sizes cannot be changed once manufacturing commences.

Please see fitting instructions below and downloadable PDF link at the bottom of this page.

Please note size you purchase from our website drop down menu is based on the finished external upstand dimensions. If you purchase a 1000mm by 1000mm from our website then your external upstand dimension would be 1000mm by 1000mm. We have 40mm tolerance all around built into our sizes so if your external dimensions were 1040mm by 1040mm this would still fit. The width of your upstand should be 75mm wide.

Acceptable tolerance:

- Opening Glass Rooflight = rooflight size (External Upstand) +40/-20mm

.

Please contact us if you required self-clean option. It only offered with some sizes and only works effectively at pitches of 10 degrees and above. Please note the item you are purchasing needs to be fitted on the builders upstand, we can supply a PVC upstand for an extra cost if required but you would need to contact us before placing the order. We recommended pitch for this product from 5 to15 degrees. At times customers may choose to install at lower than the recommended pitch. If installed on a lower pitch, we recommend pouring water over the top to ensure you’re ok with how the water is flowing off before the rooflight is installed. The purpose of the rooflight pitch is to allow the water/dirt to flow off and ensure maximum benefit of self-clean coating this option is selected. If installed completely flat water could pool on the top of the rooflight glass which won’t affect the performance or cause leaking, but you could be left with visible water when looking up at the skylight. If a glass Rooflight is installed below this recommended pitch then the Warranty would still be valid and this won’t affect the performance, however, you may experience ponding of water.

Electric Manual Opening Rooflights

At some point in your life, you may have thought about installing a new roof light. This is because it can make your property look more beautiful and help to reduce the cost of energy bills. Roof lights are also ideal for making your home as welcoming as possible for all of your guests that come to visit.

There are a number of different types of rooflights that you may choose from, but one that is becoming more popular is the electric roof light. If you’re not familiar with electric opening roof lights, read on to learn some of the benefits of choosing this type of lighting solution.

Why Choose an Electric Opening Skylights?

An electric opening glass rooflight is a type of roof light that utilises a motorised system to open and close. It has all of the benefits of a traditional rooflight but without the need for somebody to manually open and close it each time they wish to use it.

This makes it perfect for anyone with limited mobility or if the roof light is installed on a high ceiling. An electric roof lantern isn’t just convenient; it’s efficient and appealing for any space. Whether you have a home or business that could use more natural lighting, a roof lantern with electric opener will serve you well.

Modular roof lights with electric opening feature are not only useful for people with limited mobility, but they can also be used in virtually any room of your home or business. They can help increase natural daylight indoors, which is great for many reasons.

As a business owner, more natural light can help increase productivity and improve moods. As a homeowner, you’ll find that installing an electric opening roof light can make your residence more inviting and enjoyable to be in.

They also provide an attractive feature that can really enhance the look of your home, too. If you’re looking to choose an electric opening glass rooflight, then you will find that there are many different styles available.

Why would I need an Opening rooflight?

An opening rooflight is a good option to allow ventilation into the property. The opening rooflight is used in areas where there is no ventilation currently in place and to also regulate room temperatures. The opening glass sky lights can either be a manual opening type with a pole or an electric opening type. The rooflight will open approximate 15cm as a maximum.

Should I choose Electric or Manual Opening?

The electric opening rooflight will require the installer to complete wiring whereas the manual opening rooflight is more cost effective and easier to install as It doesn’t need to be wired up.

Does the special glazing change my lead time?

Any special glazing where easy-clean is selected as YES and any glazing tint BESIDES CLEAR do incur an extended lead time as shown on the delivery tab. If lead time is the priority we advise selecting clear glass with no self-clean.

What does a U-value of 1.1 W/m2K mean?

The U-value is a measure of how well a building envelope material conducts heat. The lower the U-value, the better the material is at insulating.

Skylights are often rated by their U-value, which measures how much heat is transferred through the skylight. A skylight with a U-value of 1.1 W/m2K means that for every square meter of a skylight, 1.1 watts of heat will be transferred through the skylight.
In other words, skylights with a lower U-value are better at insulating than skylights with a higher U-value. When choosing a skylight for your home, it is important to consider the U-value to ensure you are getting a product that will help to keep your home well insulated.

What is stippolyte glass?

Stippolyte glass is a type of glass that was commonly used in skylights and other applications where transparency was desired. It is made by adding metal oxides to the glass during the manufacturing process, which gives the glass a speckled or stippled appearance.

Stippolyte glass was particularly popular in the Art Deco period when it was used in a variety of decorative applications. Today, stippolyte glass is still used in skylights and other specialized applications, and it continues to be a popular choice for those who appreciate its unique aesthetic and privacy benefits.

Should I upgrade to self-cleaning glass?

When it comes to skylights, self-cleaning glass is a desirable option for many homeowners. But what exactly is self-cleaning glass? And is it worth the extra cost?

Self-cleaning glass is coated with a material that breaks down dirt and other debris. The process is activated by sunlight, so there's no need for harmful chemicals or tedious scrubbing. In addition, self-cleaning glass is also more durable and scratch resistant than traditional skylight materials.

As a result, it's an excellent choice for homes in high-traffic. While self-cleaning glass does come with a higher price tag, many homeowners feel that the benefits are well worth the investment.
