Brett Martin Daylight Systems Mardome Trade Smoke Vents are individual polycarbonate dome rooflights intended for installation on flat roofs of all modern building types to provide natural smoke and heat exhaust ventilation and comfort ventilation. Mardome Trade Smoke Vents are designed and manufactured in the UK. These products are fully tested and certified in accordance with EN12101-2 : 2003.
The Mardome Trade Smoke Vent Skylight is the ideal skylight with which to build a robust smoke exhaust system in commercial properties. Compatible with a number of different control panels from the same manufacturer, each unit is fitted with an electrically operated hinge, allowing it to be opened and closed remotely, or automatically in the event of a fire. In order to take advantage of this automated functionality, each skylight should be connected to a compatible control panel, along with smoke detectors that are designed to trigger the system should a fire break out.

Available in sizes from 1050x1050mm up to 1800x1800mm which stagger up in 150mm increments. If your size doesn’t appear here, we will be happy to assist with any query.
Measuring Guide for fitting to builders upstand
Measure internal AND external builders upstand
Acceptable tolerance:
Internal builders upstand = (dome size - 150mm) +20/-0
External builders upstand = dome size +40/-20mm
If you are installing on your own upstand, the upstand height should be 200mm. For example, on our website is a drop-down menu for you to order from, ff you choose 1050x1050mm this would mean your structural opening would be 900x900mm. The builders upstand should be 75mm in width.

Acceptable tolerance = dome size +20/-30mm
If you purchase with an upstand then the size you order from our website’s drop-down menu will be the structural opening measurement (shown in the diagram above in red). Please note this does not apply if you fit on your own upstand.
Glazing Information:
Centre pane U-value is a measure of the thermal efficiency of the glazing type.
Ud-value is a measure of the thermal efficiency of the whole rooflight (calculated in accordance with NARM Technical Document NTD2).
Part L Building Regulations require a U-value of at least 2.2W/m2K: Brett Martin Daylight Systems recommend the use of at least triple skin rooflights in all applications

Fully Certified Smoke Vent Roof Lanterns
Certified to CE EN12101-2, all units are assembled and tested at the factory to ensure full compliance with this standard. As fully certified smoke vents that have been designed and manufactured in accordance with the Building Regulations on Fire Safety, they are suitable for installation in all types of residential and commercial properties, including rental properties and properties with communal spaces.
Configuring Manual or Automatic Operation
The control panel supplied with our smoke vent roof lanterns may be triggered manually with a local override switch. Alternatively, the control panel may be integrated into an existing fire alarm or smoke detection system for automatic operation. In either case, the vents will open immediately to provide effective smoke and heat extraction in the event of a fire. Please note, the control panel has a battery backup power supply included, ensuring that the vents will open even if there is no mains electricity.
Your Choice of Glazing
As our smoke vent roof lanterns are made to order, you can choose which type of glazing you would like to have installed in them. The options include double or triple layers of either clear, patterned or opal polycarbonate sheeting.
Secure Smoke Vents
Some property owners are hesitant to install smoke vents in case the security of their buildings is compromised. However, these vents are fitted to the roof with fixings that are concealed inside security caps, ensuring they are not an easy target for opportune thieves who are operating in your area.
What glazing material is this smoke vent skylight?
The smoke vent AOV rooflight is polycarbonate material and this is due to this material being lightweight and more impact resistant to maintain the opening and closing function.
What extra option do I need?
We sell an array of optional extras with our smoke vent AOV roof light. This means that customers can select which extra options they require. The most common option is our control panel 5A however we advise customers check in accordance with their specification requirements to ensure the correct extra option is ordered for the project as these are made to order.
Can I add more than one additional extra?
Customers can opt to add more than just one optional extra as your project may have requirements for more. This would be processed by emailing or contacting Rooflights & Roof Lanterns and we would arrange payment along with add the additional extra items to your order.
